Prior to founding TMT Partners in 2001, Mark was with Deutsche Bank in Australia for over 11 years. During this time he was responsible for establishing and building the leading telecommunications and media investment banking team in Australia and New Zealand. Mark was ranked the number one individual adviser in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors in the inaugural East Coles survey of Australian Corporate advisers (February 2000). He was also ranked number six among the top 10 individual advisers across all sectors in the same survey.
In May 2000, Mark became a Managing Director and the Head of e-Business for Deutsche Bank in Australia and New Zealand and a member of the Bank’s Australasian Management Committee.
In July 2001, Mark left Deutsche Bank and established TMT Partners. Between 2001 and 2007 Mark was responsible for advising a broad range of growth companies and private equity firms operating in the telecommunications, media and technology industries in relation to acquisitions, divestments and capital raisings.
In 2007, TMT Partners was acquired by Wilson HTM Investment Group Ltd and Mark became Head of Corporate Finance for Wilson HTM. In 2009, Mark became Head of Capital Markets for Wilson HTM with management responsibility for Corporate Finance, Equity Capital Markets, Equities Research and Institutional Sales. During this time Mark was also Chairman of Wilson HTM’s Underwriting Committee.
In 2010, Mark left Wilson HTM and re-acquired TMT Partners to continue his interest in working directly with growth companies in the telecommunications, media and technology industries.
Mark has Bachelor of Arts (double major in Accounting and Economics) and Master of Applied Finance degrees from Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mark specialises in providing advice on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, divestments, public and private capital raisings and capital structure.
Hugh joined TMT Partners at the start of 2011, after 15 years in investment banking with global advisory firms.
Hugh spent 10 years in London with Credit Suisse where he consecutively ran the corporate divestitures team, business development for the financial sponsors group and M&A for one of the key industry teams in London. Hugh left to join Bank of America in London where he was one of two Managing Directors jointly leading European private equity coverage. Hugh has also worked with Greenhill Caliburn in the Australian M&A market.
Hugh’s work in London and Australia included the full range of local and cross-border European acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, privatisations, corporate restructurings and debt restructurings on behalf of private and public companies and state entities. He has led multiple assignments for global corporations in each of the telecoms, media and technology spaces.
Hugh’s career began at international law firm Baker & McKenzie in Sydney and he is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Hugh has an MBA from the University of Cambridge and degrees in Economics and Law (honours) from the University of Sydney.
Hugh specialises in providing advice on corporate strategy, capital structuring (including capital raising) and mergers and acquisitions.
Mark joined TMT Partners as a Senior Consultant in early 2014. His past experience includes 21 years as an entrepreneur successfully building and selling 7 companies in the telecommunications and technology sector.
Prior to joining TMT Partners Mark was a Principal at Sydney Capital Partners, a boutique corporate advisory firm specialising in IPOs/RTOs, mergers and acquisitions.
Mark’s major focus is on advising high growth TMT companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestments and IPOs/RTOs.
His recent transaction experience includes:
- Adviser to Ozefax Pty Ltd and Kiwifax Ltd on their sale to J2 Global Inc. (NASDAQGS:JCOM)
- Adviser to Inabox Group Limited (ASX:IAB) on their IPO
- Adviser to Inabox Group Limited on their acquisition of iVox Pty Ltd, $2m investment by M2 Telecommunications Limited (ASX:MTU) and pre-IPO capital raising
- Adviser to My Net Fone Limited (ASX:MNF) on their acquisition of CallStream
- Adviser to Australian Index Investments on their sale of a majority interest to New York based Van Eck Global
- Adviser to Inabox on the acquisition of Neural Networks
Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland (NZ) and is a licensed Business Sales Agent.
Senior Adviser – Equity Capital Markets
Tim joined TMT Partners in June 2019 as a Senior Advisor – Equity Capital Markets. He brings more than 30 years of experience in financial markets, specialising mostly in emerging companies.
Prior to his appointment at TMT Partners, Tim spent 18 months as Portfolio Manager with small cap institutional fund manager, Glennon Capital.
Before that he spent nine years as a Partner at Bligh Capital Securities specialising in institutional broking, writing small company research and capital markets.
He was a Director at Citigroup for seven years, managing the institutional broking operation’s smaller companies team – encompassing Research and Sales. He was heavily engaged in Citigroup’s smaller companies Equity Capital Markets projects.
Earlier he enjoyed 11 years as a Portfolio Manager at BNP Paribas where he managed Australian equity and property funds.
Tim started his career as a financial journalist in 1984 before joining ANZ McCaughan (London) as an Equity Research Associate in 1988.
He holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology.
